Mysore Zoo ticket price (entry)

The zoo now charges one rate on all days. The older separate weekday rates no longer appear on the official tariff.

VisitorEntry ticket
Adult (12 years and above)₹120
Child (5–12 years)₹60
Child below 5 yearsFree

The zoo’s tariff and booking page do not list a separate rate for foreign visitors. The booking page does say that non-Indian visitors must show a valid passport as identity proof. The Karnataka Tourism page for the zoo still shows an older fee table (for example ₹100/₹120 and a foreigner rate). It does not match the zoo’s own current tariff, so use the zoo’s figures.

Zoo + Karanji Lake combo ticket

Karanji Lake Nature Park is run by Mysuru Zoo, and one combo ticket covers both.

TicketAdultChild (5–12)
Zoo + Karanji Lake combo₹150₹80
Karanji Lake only₹60₹30
Zoo only (for comparison)₹120₹60

If you plan to see both, the combo saves ₹30 per adult and ₹10 per child compared with buying two separate tickets (₹180 and ₹90).

Battery-operated vehicle charges

The zoo is large, and the battery vehicles help with young children, older visitors or a hot afternoon.

Battery vehicle ticketPrice
Adult₹240
Child (5–12) or senior citizen₹180
Online 7-seater (whole vehicle)₹2,400

The battery vehicle ticket does not include zoo entry. If you book a battery vehicle online, you must also buy an entry ticket. Online booking is for the complete 7-seater vehicle only, not single seats. Under the zoo’s terms, an online battery-vehicle booking is valid only for its date and time slot, and you should arrive 15 minutes early.

Video camera₹236 (incl. 18% GST, booking page); ₹200 on the tariff page

Student group concession

School groups get concession rates: LKG and UKG students free, 1st–7th standard ₹40, 8th–12th standard ₹50, and accompanying teachers ₹50 (the booking page allows one teacher per 25 students). Schools need a student list on letterhead signed and sealed by the head of the institution, and students should be in uniform with ID cards or carry a DEO permission letter.

The concession is stopped every year during Dasara. In 2026 it is suspended from 20 to 26 October and resumes on 27 October, according to the zoo’s notice.

Mysuru Zoo timings and Tuesday holiday

  • Open: 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
  • Weekly holiday: Tuesday.
  • Dasara 2026 exception: the zoo’s notice says it stays open on Tuesdays 13, 20 and 27 October 2026. Star of Mysore reports that Karanji Lake also stays open on those Tuesdays.
  • Last entry: Karnataka Tourism says entry is allowed until 4:30 PM. The zoo’s own pages do not state a last-entry time, so aim to arrive well before then.

The zoo suggests that visitors who mainly want to see the big cats come early in the morning or towards evening, because the cats tend to rest during the day.

How to book tickets

  • Online: book at tickets.mysuruzoo.info. You must register first, and you need a working mobile number for OTP verification.
  • Validity: the zoo’s terms say an e-ticket is valid for one visit within 7 days of purchase, and it cannot be cancelled or refunded. Carry a government photo ID, because the buyer may be asked for one.
  • At the zoo: tickets are also sold at the counters. For Dasara 2026 the Times of India reported that the zoo is opening extra counters.

Visiting during Dasara: expect crowds

October is the zoo’s busiest season because of Mysuru Dasara. Ahead of Dasara 2026, the Times of India reported that the zoo is adding staff at the gates, ticket counters and parking, extra ticket counters, CCTV monitoring and first-aid counters, and has asked the police for bag scanners and metal detectors.

  • Arrive at 8:30 AM opening time, or book online to avoid the queue.
  • Karnataka Tourism notes that the zoo is more crowded on weekends, so a weekday is a better bet.
  • School groups pay the regular ₹120 / ₹60 tickets from 20 to 26 October 2026, because the student concession is paused.
  • If you drive, keep the parking charge in mind (₹70 for a car). The zoo is about 2 km from Mysuru Palace, so an auto or cab is a simple alternative.

What you can see

The zoo was founded in 1892 by Maharaja Sri Chamarajendra Wadiyar and today says it houses more than 1,450 animals of about 150 species. Species on the zoo’s official animal list include western lowland gorillas, African cheetah, jaguar, tigers, lions, African and Asiatic elephants, one-horned and southern white rhinos, hippopotamus, giraffes and zebras, as well as many birds and reptiles. In 2025 two female gorillas from Blackpool Zoo in the UK joined the zoo’s gorilla group. Individual animals can be off display for health or breeding reasons, so not every enclosure will be occupied on every day.

Karnataka Tourism suggests keeping at least two to three hours for the full zoo, and more with children. The zoo’s own map page recommends starting with the birds and reptiles in the morning and then moving to the larger enclosures.

Karanji Lake Nature Park

Karanji Lake is one of Mysuru’s oldest urban lakes, more than 100 years old and spread over about 90 acres. It was handed over to Mysuru Zoo in 1976. The zoo lists a walk-through aviary, butterfly park, bird watch tower, orchidarium, walking track and pedal boating among its facilities. The lake keeps the same hours as the zoo (8:30 AM to 5:30 PM) with Tuesday as its holiday. A pedal-boat fee is not shown on the official tariff, so check it at the lake.

How to reach Mysuru Zoo

The zoo is in the city centre on Zoo Main Road, Indiranagar. Karnataka Tourism gives these approximate distances:

  • Mysuru Palace: about 2 km
  • Mysuru Junction railway station: about 3 km
  • Mysuru city (KSRTC) bus stand: about 2 km
  • Mysuru Airport: about 11 km
