Bannerghatta ticket price 2026: zoo and butterfly park
Zoo and butterfly park tickets cost the same on weekdays and weekends.
| Ticket | Adult | Child | Senior citizen |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zoo only | ₹120 | ₹60 | ₹70 |
| Butterfly Park only | ₹50 | ₹30 | ₹30 |
| Zoo + Butterfly Park | ₹170 | ₹90 | ₹100 |
Source: official tariff page (“Effective from 01.08.2025”), checked 1 November 2026. The tariff page does not say what age counts as a “child” or a “senior citizen”. Ask at the counter if your child is close to the cut-off. The booking portal only notes that “group size does not include infants below 5 years”.
Bannerghatta safari ticket price (bus and jeep)
Every safari ticket includes zoo entry. Safari prices are higher on Saturdays, Sundays and government holidays.
| Safari ticket (per person) | Monday–Friday | Sat, Sun & govt holidays |
|---|---|---|
| Non-AC bus safari (zoo + safari): adult | ₹370 | ₹420 |
| Non-AC bus safari: child | ₹210 | ₹260 |
| Non-AC bus safari: senior citizen | ₹260 | ₹310 |
| AC bus safari (zoo + safari + butterfly park + camera): adult | ₹690 | ₹740 |
| AC bus safari: child | ₹480 | ₹530 |
The official tariff lists no senior-citizen rate for the AC bus safari.
| Jeep safari (whole vehicle; zoo + safari + butterfly park + camera) | Monday–Friday | Sat, Sun & govt holidays |
|---|---|---|
| 4-seater EV car | ₹3,200 | ₹3,500 |
| 6-seater non-AC jeep | ₹3,600 | ₹3,900 |
| 6-seater AC jeep | ₹4,200 | ₹4,500 |
| 8-seater non-AC jeep | ₹4,600 | ₹5,100 |
| 7-seater Innova / 6-seater Scorpio | ₹5,700 | ₹6,200 |
The booking portal says the jeep safari tariff “is applicable for the entire vehicle, not on a per-person basis”. Karnataka Tourism says jeep slots fill up quickly on weekends.
- Example (our arithmetic): two adults and two children on the non-AC bus safari pay ₹1,160 on a weekday (2 × ₹370 + 2 × ₹210) and ₹1,360 on a weekend (2 × ₹420 + 2 × ₹260).
- Which safari? The non-AC bus is the cheapest. The AC bus adds the butterfly park and the camera fee. A jeep can work out cheaper per head for a group of five or six than AC bus tickets: six adults on the AC bus pay ₹4,140 on a weekday, while a 6-seater non-AC jeep costs ₹3,600 (our arithmetic).
Other charges: camera, battery car, boating, specially abled visitors
| Item | Charge (all days) |
|---|---|
| Still camera | ₹50 |
| Video camera | ₹250 |
| Battery-operated vehicle (inside the zoo) | Adults ₹100, children ₹50 |
| Row boat | ₹50 per head per trip (30 minutes) |
| 2-seater pedal boat | ₹200 for the full boat (30 minutes) |
| 4-seater pedal boat | ₹400 for the full boat (30 minutes) |
| Specially abled persons: zoo and butterfly park | Free entry |
| Specially abled persons: safari | ₹200 weekdays, ₹250 weekends and govt holidays |
| Fine for breaking park rules | ₹100 / ₹250 / ₹500 |
Karnataka Tourism notes that the camera fee is already included in the AC bus safari and jeep safari tickets, which matches the official tariff wording.

School group tickets
| School children | Zoo & safari (non-AC bus) | Zoo only |
|---|---|---|
| UKG and below | ₹120 | Nil |
| 1st–7th standard | ₹150 | ₹30 |
| 8th–12th standard | ₹280 | ₹50 |
School rates have been effective since 1 October 2022 and are the same on all days (official tariff). The booking portal says school group tickets have to be booked at the ticket counter on the day of the visit.

Safari safety changes after the 2025 leopard incidents
- August 2025: a 12-year-old boy was clawed by a leopard while on a safari bus. Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre then told officials to fit mesh and designated photography holes on the windows of all safari vehicles (The Hindu, 6 January 2026).
- 13 November 2025: a leopard clawed a 56-year-old woman’s hand on a non-AC safari bus, and non-AC bus safaris were suspended (The Hindu). They resumed in November 2025 after mesh was welded onto the windows of all non-AC buses and drivers were trained for the leopard safari zone (Vijay Karnataka, 18 November 2025).
- Now: the official tariff lists the non-AC bus safari, and we found no later report of a suspension. Keep hands inside the vehicle and follow the driver’s instructions.
What’s new at Bannerghatta in 2026
- Cheetahs: cheetahs brought from South Africa finished quarantine and were moved to an outdoor enclosure open to visitors (The New Indian Express, 14 June 2026).
- Hippo calf: a male hippo calf born on 27 May 2026 was to go on public view from 5 August. The park now has five hippos (The New Indian Express, 6 August 2026).
- Giraffe death: Shivani, a female giraffe of about three years and ten months, died on 7 May 2026 of caecal torsion (The Hindu). The official zoo page still lists giraffes.
- Planned, not open yet: a 25-metre observation tower on Mirza Hill inside the zoo, planned for the end of 2026 (The Hindu, 24 March 2026), and a ₹144.4-crore public aquarium cleared by the state cabinet under a PPP model (Indian Express, 11 May 2026). We found no opening date for either.
- Fees: the current zoo fees came in on 1 August 2025, when the state approved a 20% rise in zoo entry fees. Bus and jeep safari rates were not revised then (Times of India). We found no fee change announced in 2026.

What the ticket covers
- Zoo: about 100 acres, nearly 90 species and around 1,000 animals, with a walking path of about 2 km that can also be covered by battery-operated vehicle. The zoo also has a museum and an auditorium (official zoo page).
- Safari: herbivore, bear, leopard, lion and tiger sections, seen from closed buses and jeeps run with KSTDC (official safari page). Karnataka Tourism puts the circuit at about 6 km and 45 minutes to one hour.
- Butterfly Park: a 10,500 sq ft conservatory under a polycarbonate roof, plus a museum, an insectarium and an audio-visual centre (official butterfly park page).
Rules and what to carry
- Do not feed or tease animals, cross barricades, litter, spit, smoke, drink alcohol or pluck flowers. Plastic is prohibited and the area is under CCTV (official Park Rules page). Breaking the rules can mean a ₹100 / ₹250 / ₹500 fine (official tariff).
- Single-use plastic is not allowed inside the zoo. Carry drinks and food in a reusable container inside your bag, because free-ranging monkeys snatch food (official home page).
- Expect to walk 2–3 km. Wear comfortable shoes and muted colours, and carry water, a hat and a raincoat. The park asks visitors to stay quiet (official home page).
- Safari tickets are limited, so book online, especially for weekends (official home page; Karnataka Tourism).
- Facilities listed by the park include a cloak room, wheelchairs, toilets, a baby care unit, drinking water and a cafeteria (official Facilities page).
