A Bengal tiger looking out from tall dry grass in Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve, Maharashtra, with the title Tadoba Safari Booking Price: Core vs Buffer Fees

Tadoba safari booking price (official, per gypsy, one safari): a core-zone gypsy costs ₹5,800 Monday to Friday or ₹6,800 on Saturday and Sunday when you book 1 to 59 days ahead, and ₹8,800 or ₹12,800 when you book 60 to 120 days ahead. A buffer-zone gypsy costs ₹6,000 on weekdays and ₹7,000 at weekends. Each total already includes the entry permit, the gypsy hire and the guide fee. You pay for the whole vehicle, so six people sharing a core weekday gypsy (the usual quoted limit) pay about ₹967 each.

Last checked: 18 October 2026. Prices, timings and rules on this page come from the official safari page of the Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR), mytadoba.mahaforest.gov.in. News reports are named where used. Core zones close on Tuesday, buffer zones on Wednesday. The reserve’s page warns: “DO NOT PAY EXTRA CHARGES” and asks visitors to book online themselves. This page is not based on a personal visit.

In the core zone, booking early costs more: a weekday safari booked 70 days ahead is ₹8,800, but ₹5,800 if booked 30 days ahead. Buffer prices do not change with the booking date.

What the price includes: entry, gypsy and guide

Only the entry fee changes with the day and booking window; the guide and gypsy fees stay fixed.

  • Paid online: the official rules say the online payment “includes vehicle charges and guide charges”. The fee tables list no separate camera fee. A TATR release in April 2026 said camera fees had been scrapped (PTI, via Telangana Today, 29 April 2026).
  • Children: children below 8 years ride free and are not named in the booking. A single gypsy can carry at most 2 of them.
  • Public holidays: the official table shows only Mon–Fri and Sat–Sun columns. The Times of India (27 June 2025) reported that the weekend rate also applies on public holidays. Check the price the portal shows for your date.
  • Foreign visitors: the regular gypsy tables show no separate foreigner rate (foreign rates appear only for full-day safaris). Foreigners must show a passport.
  • Rate changes: if rates or taxes are revised after you book, the rules say you pay the difference at the gate.

How many fit in one gypsy? The official page does not state a number for regular safaris today. It caps full-day safaris at 4 people (core) and 6 (buffer), excluding guide and driver. A 2020 forest department order allowed six per gypsy (Times of India, 23 October 2020), and booking agents still quote “6 adults + 2 kids”. Confirm on the portal when you book. The official rules say names cannot be changed after confirmation, though an April 2026 release mentioned a new add-on and modification option.

Cruiser seats: only for Chandrapur locals

A 9-seater cruiser runs from the Moharli Core and Kolara Core gates at ₹700 per seat “as of 2025” (official page). Seats are only for Chandrapur district residents and are booked offline in Chandrapur (Moharli) or Chimur (Kolara), from one week before the date. There is no cruiser booking on weekends or government holidays, and no refunds. Visitors from outside the district need a gypsy.

Tadoba core and buffer gates

The official homepage counts 6 core gates and 16 buffer gates. Its zone list names these:

The fee tables do not price by gate: they give one price for all core gates and one for all buffer gates. Moharli was the busiest gate in 2025-26, followed by Junona and Kolara (field director, via Times of India, 2 October 2026).

How and when to book a Tadoba safari

  1. Register on the official site with your mobile number and an OTP (the rules say registration is mandatory). The “Book Now” button leads to the Maharashtra Forest Department’s portal, safaribooking.mahaforest.gov.in.
  2. Normal booking opens at 12:00 AM IST, 120 days before the safari date.
  3. Tatkal and late booking (sources differ): the official rules still say gypsy Tatkal booking opens at 8:00 AM IST three days before the date, with no cancellation. In April 2026, the field director said Tatkal had been discontinued and that safaris can now be booked up to two hours before, subject to availability (Navbharat Live, 30 April 2026; PTI, 29 April 2026). Check the portal for your date.
  4. Core vs buffer: the Forest Department portal says core gates are bookable online only, while buffer gates may also have spot booking at the gate, depending on availability.
  5. ID: enter ID details exactly as on the original, and carry that original; photocopies are refused. Indians can use Aadhaar, passport, PAN, voter ID, driving licence or other listed IDs. Foreigners need a passport.

Official helpline: 9579160778; email: [email protected].

Cancellation and refund rules

The official page gives the rules in two places, and they do not match exactly:

  • Cancellation table: no refund 1–3 days before the safari; 20% refund 4–15 days before; 50% refund 16–59 days before; no refund for cancellations 60–120 days before.
  • Rules text: bookings made 60–120 days in advance cannot be cancelled. Bookings made less than 60 days ahead can be cancelled more than 15 days before the date with 50% deducted, and “no refund/cancellation is permissible after that”.

Both agree that 60–120 day bookings, Tatkal bookings, full-day safaris and no-shows get no refund. If TATR closes the whole park after you book, you get the full amount back minus transaction charges; if only a zone closes (rain, floods and similar), there is no refund.

Season: when is the Tadoba core zone open?

The core zone closes for the monsoon. In 2026 it was shut from 30 June to 30 September (Times of India, 30 June 2026) and reopened on 1 October, when 100 vehicles carried 564 visitors (Nagpur Today; Times of India, 2 October 2026). Buffer safaris continued through the monsoon. The official timing tables agree: core times cover 1 October to 30 June, buffer times also cover July to September.

Tadoba safari fee changes in the last 12 months

  • 1 October 2025 increase: the Times of India (27 June 2025) and The Live Nagpur (26 September 2025) reported a ₹1,000-per-gypsy rise. Core went from ₹7,800 to ₹8,800 on weekdays and from ₹11,800 to ₹12,800 at weekends (60–120 day bookings). Buffer went from ₹5,000 to ₹6,000 and from ₹6,000 to ₹7,000. Those new figures match today’s official table.
  • Different 2025 figures: The Live Nagpur (25 September 2025, “management quota”) and the Times of India (25 September 2025) quoted ₹8,600 and ₹12,600 for core and ₹7,300 to ₹10,300 for buffer. These do not match the official page read on 18 October 2026, which this guide uses.
  • 2026: we found no news of a fee change for the 2026-27 season (search on 18 October 2026). TATR’s April 2026 changes were about booking (see above) and dropping the camera fee.
  • Agent prices: private sites quote more. One with a similar name, mytadoba.org (a Delhi travel company), listed ₹8,000 to ₹15,300 per gypsy on 18 October 2026. The official page says to book only on the official website.

Rules that can cost you money

  • Using a mobile phone inside the reserve: ₹5,000 fine (official rules).
  • No plastic, alcohol or non-vegetarian food inside; littering is fineable.
  • Vehicles keep 20 m from animals, stop no more than 15 minutes in one place and drive at 20 km/h or less.

Getting to Tadoba

Tadoba is in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra. The official site names Nagpur as the closest airport and Nagpur, Chandrapur and Wardha as the closest railway stations.

How much is a Tadoba safari per person?

Tadoba prices the whole gypsy, not each person. With six people, a core weekday safari booked 1–59 days ahead is about ₹967 each (₹5,800 ÷ 6), and a buffer weekday safari is ₹1,000 each (₹6,000 ÷ 6).

Is Tadoba closed on Tuesday?

The core zone is closed on Tuesday. The buffer zone is closed on Wednesday, so on a Tuesday you can still book a buffer safari.

Which is the official Tadoba booking website?
