Tanah Lot Temple entrance fee: foreign visitors pay IDR 75,000 per adult and IDR 40,000 per child. Indonesian visitors pay IDR 30,000 per adult and IDR 20,000 per child aged 5–10. Parking costs IDR 5,000 for a car, IDR 3,000 for a motorbike and IDR 10,000 for a bus. These are the prices on the official Tanah Lot website (tanahlot.id), which we checked on 23 October 2026. A price rise to IDR 100,000 for foreign adults was planned for 1 April 2026, but the management postponed it on 29 March 2026, so the old prices still apply. The site is open every day from about 6 am to 7 pm, according to the management as quoted in Indonesian news reports. Sunset at Tanah Lot is between about 6:05 pm and 6:50 pm, depending on the month, so you can stay for it. Non-Hindu visitors can walk to the base of the rock at low tide but cannot climb up into the temple. The Bali tourist levy (IDR 150,000) is a separate, one-time charge and is not part of the Tanah Lot ticket.

Last checked: 23 October 2026. Ticket and parking prices come from the official ticket page of Daya Tarik Wisata (DTW) Tanah Lot, the tourist area run for Tabanan Regency and Beraban customary village. The postponement of the price rise is from the management’s own statements, as reported by detikBali, Bali Post, Bali Express and The Bali Sun (29 March – 1 April 2026). The official website does not publish opening hours, so the hours come from management statements reported in the news; these are labelled where they are used. Nothing on this page comes from a personal visit. Prices are in Indonesian rupiah (IDR). The rupee figures are only a guide.

Parking: bus or truck (6 wheels)IDR 10,000about ₹52
Prices from the official ticket page, tanahlot.id/page/harga-tiket, checked on 23 October 2026 (the page itself carries no date). The management gave the same prices on 29 March 2026 when it postponed the planned rise (detikBali, Bali Post). *INR guide only: worked out at the European Central Bank reference rate for 22 October 2026, ₹1 = IDR 190.63 (via frankfurter.app). Your bank or money changer will give a different rate.

A few things the official page does not say: it gives an age band (5–10 years) only for Indonesian children, not for foreign children, and it does not say whether children under 5 go in free. Some travel sites say they do, but we could not confirm this from the management, so ask at the ticket counter. The official page also does not list different weekday and weekend prices.

The official page adds one rule: anyone who wants to do a photo session, fly a drone, film or do anything else commercial should report to the management first.

Did the Tanah Lot entrance fee go up in 2026?

No, not as of 23 October 2026. Here is what happened:

  • December 2025: DTW Tanah Lot announced new prices from 1 April 2026. Foreign adults would pay IDR 100,000 (up from 75,000), foreign children IDR 60,000 (from 40,000), Indonesian adults IDR 40,000 (from 30,000) and Indonesian children IDR 25,000 (from 20,000). Parking would go up to IDR 4,000 for motorbikes, IDR 10,000 for cars and IDR 20,000 for buses (Radar Bali, December 2025).
  • 29 March 2026: I Wayan Sanjaya Tampi, head of promotion and development at DTW Tanah Lot, said the rise was postponed because of the global situation, including the conflict in the Middle East, and that entry and parking prices would stay the same (detikBali and Bali Post, 29 March 2026; The Bali Sun, 31 March 2026; Bali Express, 1 April 2026).
  • 2 April 2026: the head of the Tabanan tourism office, AA Ngurah Agung Satria Tenaya, told IDN Times Bali that the increase was now planned for “next year” (2027). No date or new price list has been published.

Some articles from early 2026 still show the higher prices as if they were in force. One example is a Tribun Travel article published before the postponement. Those figures were never applied. If you are travelling in 2027, check the official ticket page again before you go.

Change of management on 17 November 2026: what it means for visitors

Tanah Lot has been run for about 26 years under a cooperation agreement (PKS) between Tabanan Regency and Beraban customary village. That agreement ends on 17 November 2026. On 2 October 2026, Beraban village held a meeting of its 15 banjar (neighbourhood councils) about how Tanah Lot should be managed afterwards. Under the plan discussed with the regent in September 2026, the regency’s company, Perumda Sanjayaning Singasana, would work with the village. No final arrangement had been announced by early October (detikBali, Bali Post, NusaBali, 2 October 2026).

For visitors, the operations manager, I Wayan Sudiana, said on 4 October 2026 that the site is running normally and that the talks about management will not affect services (NusaBali, Bali Post). In August 2026 he had asked for a decision, or at least an interim arrangement, before 17 November, so that there is a clear legal basis for collecting entrance tickets from 18 November (NusaBali, 31 August 2026). We found no report of any plan to close Tanah Lot or to change ticket prices because of the handover. If you visit after 17 November 2026, check tanahlot.id or recent Bali news first.

Tanah Lot entrance fee in INR (for Indian travellers)

At the 22 October 2026 reference rate (₹1 = IDR 190.63), a foreign adult ticket of IDR 75,000 works out to about ₹393, and a foreign child ticket of IDR 40,000 to about ₹210. For a couple with one child arriving by car, the bill is IDR 75,000 + 75,000 + 40,000 + 5,000 parking = IDR 195,000 (about ₹1,023). You pay in rupiah at the gate. Travel sites say the counters take cash, but the official page does not say which payment methods are accepted, so carry enough rupiah. Tanah Lot sunset time by month

The sun sets over the sea behind the temple rock, which is why most people come in the late afternoon. Because Bali is close to the equator, sunset times change by only about 40 minutes over the year:

MonthApprox. sunset (WITA)
January – February6:40 – 6:50 pm
March6:25 – 6:40 pm
April6:10 – 6:25 pm
May – July6:05 – 6:20 pm
August – October6:15 – 6:20 pm
November6:15 – 6:25 pm
December6:25 – 6:40 pm
Calculated for Tanah Lot’s coordinates (8.621° S, 115.087° E) with the NOAA solar-position method, rounded to 5 minutes. On 23 October 2026, sunset is at about 6:14 pm. Clouds can hide the sun itself, especially in the rainy season.

Plan to arrive by about 4:30–5 pm. In April 2026, the head of the Tabanan tourism office said heavy traffic on the road from Canggu to Tanah Lot can stretch the trip to as long as three hours at peak times (IDN Times Bali, 2 April 2026). Leaving straight after sunset also means joining a queue of cars and buses.

Tanah Lot dress code and temple rules

  • Non-Hindus cannot go up into the temple. The shrine on the rock is for worshippers. Visitors can walk across to the base of the rock at low tide, but should not climb the steps into the temple (Tribun Travel, August 2025; Lonely Planet).
  • Dress modestly. Covering your shoulders and knees is the safe choice at any Balinese temple. Tanah Lot’s official website does not publish a dress code, and we found no official rule that visitors to the outer grounds must wear a sarong.
  • Tides decide what you can see. At high tide the rock is cut off by the sea. Stay back from the water when the waves are high: staff and lifeguards move people away from the shore and cliffs, and the management puts up warning signs in rough weather (ANTARA Bali; Kilas Bali, January 2026).
  • Drones and photo shoots: report to the management first (official ticket page).
  • Temple festivals: the temple anniversary (piodalan/pujawali) comes round every 210 days on the Balinese calendar (Indonesia.travel). On those days, the grounds fill with worshippers and visitors should keep out of the way of processions.

What you can see inside the Tanah Lot area

The official site lists several temples within the tourist area besides Pura Luhur Tanah Lot itself: Pura Batu Bolong (on a rock arch north of Tanah Lot), Pura Enjung Galuh, Pura Pakendungan, Pura Jro Kandang, Pura Batu Mejan and Pura Penataran Madya. Other attractions it lists are a holy spring, the “holy snake”, a Sunset Terrace, a selfie spot, the Majapahit Tanah Lot Museum, the Tri Antaka monument, an art market and restaurants. The official pages do not say which of these are covered by the entrance ticket and which cost extra, apart from the Kecak dance, which is a separate show. Ask at the counter.

Bali tourist levy vs the Tanah Lot ticket

These are two different payments:

  • Bali tourist levy: IDR 150,000 per foreign visitor (about ₹787), paid once per trip to Bali Province. The official Love Bali FAQ says to pay it cashless through the Love Bali website or app before you arrive, or at counters at Bali’s airport and ports, or at registered hotels, travel agents and tourist attractions. You get a voucher with a QR code by email,. Holders of KITAS/KITAP stay permits, diplomatic, student, family and golden visas and some others are exempt (lovebali.baliprov.go.id, checked 23 October 2026). The Bali Provincial Tourism Office said in February 2024 that it would also check levy vouchers at tourist destinations (Love Bali news).
  • Tanah Lot ticket: IDR 75,000 per foreign adult, paid at the Tanah Lot gate every time you visit. Paying the levy does not get you into Tanah Lot, and the Tanah Lot ticket does not cover the levy.

Only pay the levy through lovebali.baliprov.go.id or the official Love Bali app. Bali.live reported in 2026 that some visitors had ended up on scam payment sites.

Where is Tanah Lot and how to get there

Tanah Lot is in Beraban village, Kediri district, Tabanan Regency, on Bali’s south-west coast (address on the official site: Desa Beraban, Kecamatan Kediri, Kabupaten Tabanan; phone 0361-880361). Wikipedia puts it about 20 km north-west of Denpasar and 13 km south of Tabanan town. The official ticket page lists parking for motorbikes, cars and buses, and the official facilities page says the car park covers 2.77 hectares.
