Kishkinta Theme Park (also called Kishkinta Amusement Park) near Tambaram, Chennai, still appears in ticket-price searches. Before you plan a visit, the first fact to check is whether the park is open at all. English Wikipedia’s Kishkinta page lists the park as closed since June 2016 after a fatal Disk’O / spinning-wheel ride malfunction. Contemporary news from May 2016 reported a worker’s death during a trial run, arrests of the owner and a manager, and that the park was closed to the public the next day.
Last checked: 9 October 2026. This guide uses The Hindu and Deccan Chronicle reports from May 2016, the English Wikipedia page (with those citations), the Navodaya Studio history page, and tourism-aggregator listings. The official site kishkinta.in did not respond from our checks on this date. This page is not based on a visit. Call the listed park number before you travel, and do not treat aggregator prices as a booking confirmation.
Is Kishkinta Theme Park still open?
| Claim | What we found | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Operating status | Wikipedia infobox: Closed, June 2016; article text says closed since June 2016 for safety reasons | en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kishkinta (extract checked 9 Oct 2026) |
| May 2016 accident | Worker S. Mani died; others injured when a spinning “disco dancer” / Disco rider joyride broke during a trial run; owner and manager arrested | The Hindu, 14 May 2016; Deccan Chronicle, 13 May 2016 |
| Immediate closure | The Hindu: the amusement park was closed for the public on the Thursday after the Wednesday accident | The Hindu, 14 May 2016 |
| Official website | http://kishkinta.in and https://kishkinta.in returned no usable page (connection failure) on 9 Oct 2026 | Direct fetch attempt |
| Owner history page | Navodaya Studio describes Kishkinta as a 1995 themed park project; page footer shows ©2017; it does not publish 2026 ticket prices or “open today” hours | navodayastudio.com/page-1-1 |
We did not find a government tourism notice from 2024–2026 announcing a reopening. Tourism aggregators still publish hours and prices; that alone does not prove the gates are open. If you have a recent ticket stub or an official reopening notice, that would be stronger evidence than aggregator copy.
Kishkinta Theme Park ticket price (listed figures only)
Because the park’s own site was unreachable, we cannot verify a 2026 gate tariff from Kishkinta. The figures below are what a tourism listing site published when we checked it. Treat them as unverified for current entry and possibly obsolete.
| Ticket type | Listed price | Height band on the listing | Source label |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adult | ₹690 per person | Above 4′6″ (137 cm) | chennaitourism.travel (aggregator), checked 9 Oct 2026 — not park-site verified |
| Child | ₹490 per person | 2′6″ (76 cm) to 4′6″ (137 cm) | Same aggregator — not park-site verified |
| Below 2′6″ (76 cm) | Free on the listing | Under 76 cm | Same aggregator — not park-site verified |
An older travel blog post from November 2016 (after the accident month) quoted a 2016 access tariff of adult ₹450 and child ₹350. That is historical context only; it is not a 2026 price.
The live version of this goplanready.com article previously presented ₹690 / ₹490 and daily hours as if they were current, buyable tickets. Those claims are replaced here with the status and source labels above.
Listed timings (aggregator only)
The same chennaitourism.travel page lists Monday–Saturday 10:00 AM–6:30 PM (Wednesday closed) and Sunday 10:00 AM–7:00 PM, with public holidays to 7:00 PM. We could not confirm these hours with the park. If Wikipedia’s closed status is correct, the timetable is moot until an official reopening.

Call the number and ask whether the park is open, what the current adult and child fees are, and which rides (if any) are operating. If the number is dead, do not rely on third-party “book now” pages.
What the old page got wrong
- It marketed Kishkinta as a current family day out with live shows and a full ride list, without stating the 2016 closure reported by Wikipedia and 2016 newspapers.
- It gave no “last checked” year for prices in the main body (GSC queries include year variants; readers need a dated status).
- It used FAQPage schema answers that repeated unverified prices as flat facts.
- Promotional lines such as “India’s No. 1 Theme Park” and star ratings from aggregator review widgets are not used here.
