Boating on Hussain Sagar starts from the jetty inside Lumbini Park, next to Necklace Road in Hyderabad. Telangana Tourism’s boating tariff lists the mechanised boat to the Buddha statue at ₹55 per adult and ₹35 per child. A speed boat costs ₹300 per trip for up to 4 people. You also pay the Lumbini Park entry fee, which Telangana Tourism gives as ₹20 per adult and ₹10 per child. The park is open from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

Last checked: 7 October 2026. This guide uses Telangana Tourism (TGTDC) and HMDA pages. It is not based on a visit. Boat rates change, and some official pages could not be opened in full, so confirm at the counter before you buy.

Hussain Sagar boating ticket price (Lumbini Park jetty)

These rates come from Telangana Tourism’s “Boating Units” tariff page (telanganatourism.gov.in), under the Lumbini Park heading. The page says the rates include all taxes. When we checked on 7 October 2026 the page returned a server error, so the figures below come from its indexed text, not from a full page load. Treat them as the latest official list and confirm at the ticket window.

Boat or ridePriceCharged per
Mechanised boat (Buddha statue ride)Adult ₹55, child ₹35Person
Speed boat₹300Trip (up to 4 people)
Pantoon boat₹100Person
Jet skiSingle ₹250, double ₹350Ride
Parasailing₹300Person
Bhageerathi pleasure cruiserAdult ₹80, child ₹60Person
Khair-un-Nissa / Bhagmati cultural cruiseAdult ₹100, child ₹70Person

The park entry ticket is separate. Telangana Tourism’s Lumbini Park page lists ₹20 for adults and ₹10 for children. An older HMDA page, which also quotes 2008-09 visitor numbers, still shows ₹10 for adults and ₹5 for children aged 5 to 10. Go by the Telangana Tourism figure, but expect the gate price to be the final word.

Speed boats, jet skis and parasailing depend on weather and staff, so they may not run every day. The tariff page does not say how long each ride lasts. Ask at the counter.

Neither TGTDC nor HMDA publishes separate boating hours, last-boat times or weekly closures. Boats stop when light or weather is poor. If you want a sunset ride, aim for late afternoon and call ahead.

The Buddha statue boat ride

The mechanised boat goes out to the monolithic Buddha statue on a rock in the middle of the lake. Telangana Tourism says the statue is carved from a single block of white granite, is 18 metres (58 feet) tall and weighs over 450 tonnes. Other published sources give smaller figures, so treat the size as approximate.

Telangana Tourism’s Lumbini Park page describes the boat ride as including a stop at the statue. Some non-official guides say the boats only circle the rock. We could not confirm which is current, so ask at the counter whether your boat lands at the statue.

Where the boating counter is

The boats leave from the jetty inside Lumbini Park. Telangana Tourism gives the park address as Lumbini Park New Gate, opposite Secretariat Road, Khairtabad, Hyderabad 500008. The park is reached from Necklace Road and sits opposite the Secretariat New Gate. Buy the park entry ticket at the gate, then the boat ticket at the boating counter inside.

Boating unit phone, as listed on the Telangana Tourism tariff page: 9848354440. Telangana Tourism’s main helpline: 1800 4254 6464 (toll free).

Lumbini Park: what else is there

HMDA’s Buddha Purnima Project runs the park. HMDA says it was developed in 1994 on about 5 acres. It lists an interactive waterfall, pop-up fountains, children’s play equipment, a floral clock, a cafeteria and boating. Telangana Tourism notes that photography is allowed.

Laser show status

The Lumbini Park laser show was not running in mid-2026. Hyderabad Mail reported on 18 and 23 July 2026 that it had been suspended for about two months because of a dues dispute between HMDA and the operator. The report gave the ticket as ₹80 per person, with one show on weekdays and two on weekends when it ran. HMDA said it was working to restart the show, but we found no confirmed restart date as of 7 October 2026. Do not plan your evening around it without calling first.

Private cruise hire on Hussain Sagar

Telangana Tourism also hires out two larger cruisers for private parties. Rates include all taxes, according to the tariff page.

Booking phone for cruise hire, according to the same page: 9848011860. Telangana Tourism says the cruisers have a music system on the open deck and AC on the lower deck.

Is it worth it?

The ₹55 boat ride is one of the cheapest ways to see Hyderabad from the water, and it is the only way to get close to the Buddha statue. If you only want lake views, a walk along Necklace Road is free. Families who want a full day out with rides might prefer a theme park such as Wonderla Hyderabad or Jalavihar Water Park. On a hot day, Snow World Hyderabad is an indoor option.
